Overview:
Learn to easily organise, analyse, manage, cite and share your research sources using Zotero, a reference management package.
Free to use, with more features and greater flexibility than Endnote, Zotero http://www.zotero.org/ is rapidly becoming the preferred referencing tool for researchers.

Who Should Attend:
Researchers, writers, information professionals, and anyone who needs to stay on top of their references / research sources. You should be familiar with basic research methods, and confident in using Microsoft Word and the Web.

Learning Objectives:

•Understand what Zotero does and how it is used
•Learn to install Zotero on your computer, create a Zotero account, and use Zotero in Word documents
•Identify and confidently use key Zotero functions and features
•Become familiar with advanced Zotero capabilities
•Build a working Zotero library, insert citations and create a bibliography
Course Outline:

•Brief overview: What Zotero can do and how people use it.
•Set up: Install Zotero to use on your computer, on the web and as you write.
•Create your library: Import references from databases, libraries, by entering ISBNs and DOIs, or directly from websites and pdfs.
•Manage your library: Organise your library into specialist collections, add notes and tags, and store related items.
•Analyse your records: Sort and search your library and visualise your collection through a Zotero timeline.
•Cite as you write: Insert references as you work, create bibliographies, choose and change reference styles.
•Zotero online: Share your work and collaborate with other researchers by creating groups and sharing libraries.
•Make the most of Zotero: Tips, tricks, advanced functions and upcoming features.
Course Format:
This hands-on course is taught in our Computer Training Suite. There is a maximum of 12 participants and each participant has their own PC. Participants will start building and using their own Zotero libraries during the session.
