In your work, you may need to give health information to different audiences — members of the public who are not familiar with the topic and medical experts who are. This workshop, based on international best practice in health writing, will explore ways you can use plain language to connect effectively with a range of health consumers in your workplace and community.
In this workshop you’ll learn about health literacy — the communication component of healthcare. You’ll get a fresh perspective on giving health information, both written and spoken, from your trainer and the other workshop participants. This workshop is very practical and includes time to review some of your own documents.
Rosie Knight, one of our plain English specialists, is the inspiration behind this workshop (and she's one of the trainers). Health literacy is one of Rosie’s great interests, and she’s keen to use her extensive experience in the health sector to improve and clarify health information.
