Unit Standard 4098, “Assess candidate performance against standards”, is the key competency-based assessment standard that is part of the National Certificate in Adult Education and Training (Level 4) qualification. It is the unit standard most often required by Industry Training Organisations (ITOs) for registration as a Workplace Assessor.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this two-day programme participants will leave with an understanding of NZQA’s National Qualifications Framework (NQF), will have experienced and practiced competency-based assessment, learned how to use assessment guides for standards based assessment, and how to plan and prepare for assessment against Units 4098 and 11281 using a ‘collection of evidence’ approach.
Therefore, on the successful completion of a portfolio of evidence participants will be able to: •Determine a candidate’s readiness for assessment •Prepare for assessment •Conduct assessment •Complete assessment administration
