Overview:
Need to write something in a hurry? Want tips on how to write something strikingly different? Perhaps a short film where every moment must be exciting for the audience?
This special one-off four-hour workshop teaches you how to write something fast and still make it the best it can be. Learn tricks of the trade from an established scriptwriter who will show you how to do more with less.
Target audience:
This course is for anyone interested in scriptwriting, particularly the short film genre.
Learning objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will have learnt:
•tips and tricks that will help with future scriptwriting
•how to write fast but effectively
•how to make characters compelling
•how to create a short script that engages an audience.
Course format:
This special one-off Saturday workshop includes group discussion, undertaking creative writing exercises and watching specific movies on the day.
Please bring your own lunch or you can buy it from nearby food outlets. Afternoon tea will be provided.
Class limit:
This course is limited to a maximum of 15 participants, so please enrol early.
Teacher:
Gavin McGibbon is a professional scriptwriter who teaches playwriting for the International Institute of Modern Letters. He has had plays produced at Bats Theatre and Circa and written for Radio New Zealand. Gavin has been successful in the V48 Hours Film Making Competition. In the two years he has been involved, he was nominated for Best Script Intervention – Wellington City Finals 2011, made the Wellington City finals both years with Intervention 2011 (which won the U TV viewer’s choice award) and Kids These Days 2012. Kids These Days went on to make the National Finals.
