The role of the Administrators and Assistants has long since changed from what it used to be. You are expected to manage yourself and others, liaise with departments and other organisations, have generalist knowledge of your organisation, budgeting and compliance issues and manage your boss accordingly.
On successful completion of this programme, it is expected you will have the tools to be able to: •Describe your role, level of responsibility and authority, and how this contributes to managerial and organisational effectiveness •Build and maintain effective links, networks and working relationships •Identify policies and legislation that have implications for your role •Describe important behaviours that support your professional and ethical practice •Demonstrate effective internal and external client liaison •Develop effective time and stress management techniques •Organise and document different types of meetings in accordance with organisational procedures •Manage information and communication within organisational processes •Plan, budget, organise and review events such as conferences, visiting delegations, organisational and social activities to meet organisational objectives •Manage business travel arrangements •Conduct a personal skills audit and identify areas for self-development •Use a profiling tool to identify your work preferences, how they affect others, and how to work with people who have different preferences •Develop your communication, assertion and negotiation skills •Negotiate workload priorities and deadlines •Explore your motivational needs and career options.
Aspects of this programme count towards the National Diploma in Business Administration (Level 5): •Unit Standard 21862 "Demonstrate knowledge of management administrative services". •Unit Standard 21863 "Provide and evaluate management administrative services".
