To provide new or prospective managers with formal training in basic, practical management skills and the principles involved. It is designed to launch new managers with the knowledge and confidence to start them on the road to success.
The programme’s objective is to enable the new manager to set high standards early, practise good management habits, and learn effective approaches to get the best from themselves and from the people they manage in the shortest possible time.
Participants will benefit if they have recently become a manager or are about to be promoted into a management position. This is also a good starting programme for any manager who lacks formal training or anyone seeking a career in management.
On successful completion of this programme, it is expected you will have the tools to be able to; •Have an overview of planning, leading, organising and controlling as key functions in management •Have improved communication skills as a manager •Understand what motivates people and how a manager can influence this •Have some methods for dealing with difficult people and behaviours in the workplace •Know how to better manage performance •Have new ideas to help manage workload through improved team prioritisation •Learn how to delegate and coach more effectively and the benefits of this •Know how to give positive and constructive feedback, and deal with conflict •Become aware of behaviours that gain credibility and improve loyalty from staff •Know how to develop a vision for the team •Understand the key elements of planning and goal setting for teams
