Overview: Understanding how to improve service delivery while managing (or even reducing) the delivery cost is a focus for most organisations, government departments and agencies today.
This course explains how supply chain thinking and disciplines can be applied as an effective approach to improving service delivery management within the public sector, and dispels the false assumption that supply chains are only relevant in the manufacturing sector.
The Supply-Chain Operations Reference model (SCOR®) is a business process reference model that has been developed and endorsed by the Supply Chain Council as the cross-industry standard diagnostic tool for supply chain management.
SCOR® enables users to address, improve and communicate supply chain management practices within, and between, all interested parties and has recently started been adopted by some New Zealand government organisations.
Participants will be provided with an overview of the SCOR® framework and a clear understanding of the Supply Chain Excellence Methodology-including how they can be applied within the public sector to improve service delivery while managing costs.
Who Should Attend: Professionals and practitioners in the public sector who are responsible for:
•commissioning, designing or implementing new business processes •redesigning business processes to improve service delivery and/or reduce costs •establishing service management performance measures •seeking to understand global best practice process standards and how these can be applied to improve service delivery. Learning Objectives:
•Segment and prioritise service offerings. •Align service management with business strategy. •Effectively measure end-to-end service management performance. •Build best practice business processes for operational excellence. •Identify and quantify improvement opportunities. •Prioritise the improvement programme for implementation. Course Outline:
•Understand the relevance of supply chain thinking to service delivery •An overview of the SCOR® framework; business processes, metrics and best practices •An introduction to the Supply Chain Excellence methodology, with a particular focus on how to: •classify your service offerings using global cross-industry standards •utilise tools and techniques required to review your business processes for improvements. Course Format: The one-day course will be delivered in a classroom workshop. The course is based on Peter Bolstorff's Supply Chain Excellence (SCE) methodology, as documented in his book, "Supply Chain Excellence: A Handbook for Dramatic Improvement Using the SCOR® Model". The SCE methodology provides powerful examples of how to navigate through the business processes and create alignment with best practices.
