Overview: Making portraits is like trying to catch lightning in a bottle – tricky to do but deeply satisfying when achieved. This course teaches you the soft skills you need to encourage your subject to reveal some of the essence of themselves before your lens and the technical skills that will allow you to capture that unique moment. When we combine these skills, we become capable of confidently making portraits that reveal rather than just record.
Target audience: This course is targeted to interest the general public.
Learning objectives: By the end of this course participants will have gained: •a specific skill set to enable them to take control of the portrait making process with confidence •the ability to evaluate environments and conditions and to utilise them well in their portrait making •an appreciation of the importance of creating rapport with their subjects •the ability to evaluate which skills are required for the type of portrait you are making
Course outline: Each week you will be given homework to help you integrate classroom learning with hands-on practice.
