Is your personal communication style as effective as it could be? Do you want to communicate powerfully while respecting the autonomy and feelings of those with whom you work?
Use this course to understand your own personal communication style and the advantages and disadvantages of how you use this to communicate. During the course you will examine your assumptions of differing communication styles and learn how to develop empathy for dealing with those with contrasting points of view and methods of communication. You will also look at how men and women communicate their needs differently, and how age, culture and power also affect the way we communicate.
On completion of the course you will have the skills to communicate powerfully while respecting the autonomy and rights of those with whom you work.
This course will cover:
the elements of effective oral communication skills in workplace environments key communication skills which can potentially improve working relationships identifying your own communication style the relationship between listening and problem solving assertive communication techniques the impact of gender and culture on perception and how that affects communication.

Louisa is a Clinical Psychologist who has worked extensively with groups and organisations on issues related to workplace dynamics, team building, communication and change management. She has taught university courses and provided training for organisations in both the public and private sectors
