Overview: What are we doing about climate change? Join the experts this summer and explore climate science, economic responses, and international policy negotiations going on now in response to the world’s changing climate. This course provides an overview of climate science and economics and aspects of international negotiations relevant for climate policy.
This intensive summer course is taught by experts in physics, economics and public policy: Professor Dave Frame, Director of New Zealand Climate Change Research Institute; Dr Suzi Kerr, Motu Economic and Public Policy Research; and Dr Adrian Macey, former chair of Kyoto Protocol negotiations.
Target audience: The course is suitable for graduate students and/or policy analysts, CRI, city and regional council employees, and people in the private sector working on environmental issues.
Learning objectives: By the end of this course, students will understand:
•key decision-relevant aspects of climate science and environmental economics, •the history, theory and prospects of landmark efforts to govern climate change, domestically and internationally. Readings and pre-course activity: An extensive reading list will be available for course preparation in December.
